I'm back! Who knows for how long but... I've finally started eating different wings and not those reliable ones at my Local, The Thornbury Local. First up upon my return, a random sports bar & grill in Dublin, named Murray's.
They looked the goods... but were they? Only one way to find out!
The Scores
- The Specs: Drums and flats. And not huge by any means. RATING 5.
- The Sauce: Self described by the team at Murray's as pineapple hot sauce, so clearly not Frank's. But good lord, the sauce was EXCELLENT. Though, rules are rules, and this is a buffalo wing page... RATING: 3
- Crunch: Floured, deep fried, crunchy wings! BOOM! RATING: 8
- Serving size & price/Value for Money: 14.95€ for about 10 wings. Again, that's around 2 bucks a wing. Bang on average - and becoming a broken record. RATING: 7
- Heat/spice level: Perfect level of heat. Enough to make you feel it, remember it, and then crave an extra helping. RATING: 9
- Flavour: Whatever the pineapple hot sauce is, its spot on and I want more of it - lets do it by the spoonful! Though my face might not appreciate that.... RATING 9
- Celery: No Celery. RATING: 0.
- Dipping Sauce: Dipping sauce was a blue cheese Mayo. Half points, I guess? No cheese chunks. RATING: 2.5
- Other Stuff: No IPA available on tap on this fine Irish winter's day. However, it is a "traditional" style pub in Dublin so Guinness was poured and was fine. It'll always be fine. We ate at 3pm on a Thursday so a little difficult to judge the venue, with not much of a crowd. That said, personally not sure I'd want to be there every night for Irish dancing! RATING 5.
OVERALL RATING 53.5/80.
TWO Moist Towelettes! FIVE Bonus Points, handily earned! This is a Buffalo Wing site and these were not your traditional, Frank's Hot Sauce Wings. That, and the weird Blue Cheese Mayo hurts... But thank goodness for Moist Towelettes - Wing necessities! At the time of writing, the odd half point score here, sneaks Murray's into 10th place on the table. Quite the result!
I highly recommend the Pineapple Hot Sauce Wings at Murray's. Just don't expect traditional Buffalo!
