California! Jetting across to Long Beach for a long weekend, I was lucky enough to hit up Green Cheek Beer Co, at Sunset Beach.
I forgot to tip one of the bartenders but I'm claiming it wasn't my fault. How were the wings though?
Let's find out!
The Scores
- The Specs: You'll never guess... Flats and Drums! RATING 5.
- The Sauce: Defo Frank's. Not much butter, if any. Simple but bloody good. RATING 8
- Crunch: Crunchy. Seasoned flour and fried. RATING 9
- Serving size & price/Value for Money: 12 flats/drums for a total of USD$18 which is just over AUD$2 apiece. But the Green Cheek wings were huge. I could not finish them. RATING 9
- Heat/spice level: Its Franks. Its the perfect heat. RATING 10.
- Flavour: Simple Franks sauce and plenty of it. Would I eat again? Yes. Would I get a second serve? No... In my fragile post-pacific flight, I could not finish the 12 on offer here! RATING 9
- Celery: Celery and carrot. A point off for carrots. RATING 4
- Dipping Sauce: Ranch RATING: 0

Other Stuff: Green Cheek makes excellent IPA, perfect for accompanying wings. To be fair, most that visit here, come for the beer. Not the wings. Double level, small Venue. Upstairs is mostly a beer deck and is a pure stereotype of California beaches. I recommend it! Downstairs, a more traditional American taproom with kitchen. Rating 7
OVERALL RATING 61/80.
No Moist Towelettes. No Bonus Points. And yet, still a massive score from the Sunset Beach outpost of Green Cheek. Great beers and, as it turns out, great wings too! Its a bit of a trek from Los Angeles Airport but both Sunset Beach and Long Beach are well worth a visit!
