Located in Coburg right at the start of the 8 hour journey to Sydney, Drums Hotel is... an interesting venue. With a history stretching back 150 years, apparently, Drums is perhaps best described as a suburban pub. There's a bistro, a front bar, and a TAB - what more could you need? Wings! - The Specs: Flats and drums. Yeah, I get it. But I don't care. RATING: 5.
- The Sauce: Have a look at that pic. There's little to no sauce available here and the wings are almost naked. RATING: 3.
- Crunch: Crunchy for sure, and I do think its a seasoned flour coating before a dip in the deep fryer! RATING: 7
- Serving size & price/Value for Money: 12 flats and drums for $26? That can't be right, and my memory (and quick google search - MR YUM) must be failing me. If true... Good Lord. RATING: 3
- Heat/spice level: Elsa has more heat on her fingertips than these wings. Rating: 2
- Flavour: I mean, chicken wings are chicken wings, so they will never taste bad. But... there's not enough sauce, and what there is, is not Buffalo. RATING 3
- Celery: Was there Celery sticks? No there was not. I wonder if I should rate this negatively for that weird little side salad, instead of celery sticks?. RATING: 0.
- Dipping Sauce: Blue Cheese? No Blue Cheese. Rating: 0.
- Other Stuff: Quick service and friendly staff; Mostly lagers on tap with a couple interesting cans in the fridge; Ultimately, Drums Hotel is a suburban pub with a TAB and all of the usual suspects. If its your thing, that's cool. It isn't mine, and I won't be rushing back. RATING 5.
